Guillotines were made from the principles of Tobius Schmidt's principals but not his actual designs. During the years of The Great Terror (1973-1794) there were lots and different types of guillotines. Some of those guillotines survived and newer versions of those guillotines were made as shown in the picture below. The function and the design of the machine were kept the same even after the newer version. It began in 1789 when a french physician, Joseph Ignace Guillotine, shared his ideas to the people. His ideas were that people should be punished the same even if they are on a different rank than them. He also said that it should not put shame or put his or her family in a lower rank. The corpse can be requested for a proper burial. These ideas created the guillotine which is named after him.
