The guillotine was used for execution in france and became popular during the 1700s-1900s. It was used for executions and beheading. It consists of a tall upright frame with a triangular blade that is secured by a thick oak wood block. The person is secured at the bottom and the execution will then start. The blade is then released which is attached to a rope and the person gets beheaded. It became popular and part of their culture. During executions people would celebrate as the people's avenger by supporters of the revolution.
